Master the Anime Art Style: An Easy Guide to Draw Eyes

There are countless of art styles out there, but it seems like the anime or manga style never loses its popularity! I personally got into drawing because I used to read tons of manga, it was the first art style I tried!

One of the most outstanding features of anime-style art is the eyes. They are large, unrealistic, full of details and sparkles. So this time, I want to share my way for drawing eyes in anime style.

I am using ibisPaint X for this guide, but feel free to use any drawing app you're comfortable with. This technique can be applied to any platform, or you can even try to draw it traditionally with pencils and papers!

For this drawing, I'm using my lineart brush. If you want to use the same brush as me, click here to get it!

Are you ready? Now, let's get started!

1. Draw the eyelid

Start by drawing the upper and lower eyelids! If you don't want to draw double, you can activate your mirror ruler. This will be the outline of the eyes and sets the foundation for the eye shape.

2. Draw the iris and pupil

Now, draw the iris and the pupil! Make it round or slightly oval. The big one is for the iris, and the smaller one for the pupil.

3. Draw the eyelash

Strike some lines around the eyelids and draw the eyelashes!

4. Add sparkles

Now, to make it more anime-looking, draw some sparkles and details! I like to draw little stars and hearts in my eyes.

5. Add eyebrows

The eyes couldn't be complete without a pair of eyebrows. Streak some lines above the eyes!

6. Get creative for the final touch!

The last step, a.k.a the fun part, is to get creative for he finishing! You can color it, make some gradients, or even add textures! The art is yours, so do whatever you want.

Art is all about creativity, so feel free to experiment with these steps and develop your own way to draw anime-style eyes!
