Expand your Font Collection: How to Download and Add Fonts in ibisPaint X

Sometimes, we need to add some text to our artwork, and ibisPaint X allows you to do that easily! ibisPaint X offers you a text tool and some default fonts, but I know it won’t be enough for your creativity. Luckily, ibisPaint X also allows you to add fonts from outside sources!

Step 1: Open a canvas

First things first, open any canvas! You can open a new one or any of your existing artwork. New or old, it doesn’t matter which one! Since the feature is only accessible inside a canvas.

Step 2: Find the brush button

Look towards the bottom left corner of your screen and click the brush button!

Step 3: Access the text tool

Once you click the brush button, a toolbar will appear. Now find and click on the ‘Text’ icon!

Step 4: Add text

You are now in text mode! Click anywhere on the canvas until you see a bubble that says ‘Add Text.’ Click on that bubble!

Now, hit the ‘Font’ button to open the font options.

Click on the ‘+’ button. It will take you straight to a Google search for “free fonts.” Yes, even ibisPaint X knows we love free stuff!

Step 7: Choose the website

Click on any font website that you want! For this guide, we’ll use dafont.com since it’s usually at the very top of the Google page.

Step 8: Explore and download

Once you’re on the font website, go look around and find any fonts that catch your eye! To download it, just find the nearest download button! It should be easy to find.

Step 9: Enjoy your new fonts!

The selected fonts will be downloaded and automatically installed to your ibisPaint X. Now go ahead and be creative with your text!

Pro tip: Be careful with font license!

Not all fonts are free to use as you like. Some fonts are only available for personal use, meaning that you can’t use them for monetized projects without the font creator’s permission.

So, if you want to use the text for commercial purposes such as logos or merchandise, make sure the license is public domain or commercial!

The font websites usually give you information about the license, so always double-check before downloading!

Now that you have a whole font collection in your ibisPaint X, let your creativity play around with them!
